Roma Bakery is a finalist in the "What’s Hamilton’s #City Dish?"
contest at the Hamilton Spectator
The Spec is holding a contest to help choose a dish that truly represents the city of Hamilton. Here's what they said: We asked readers to help choose a dish that they feel truly represents the city, in the hope of finding the one food that's truly Hamilton's own. After a deluge of calls, emails, tweets and discussions, we've narrowed the selections to 10 finalists...
Roma Bakery has been chosen as one of the 10 finalists! The ten finalists were interviewed and asked to tell a little about their dish. An article featuring Roma Pizza was featured in the Spec on June 7. Roma also received honourable mention for chicken on a skewer along with other dishes well known to our city.
We truly believe that Roma pizza is the true dish that represents Hamilton. If you agree, please vote for us.
To vote, tweet to Emma Reilly (@EmmaatTheSpec) using the hashtag #CityDish, or call 905-526-2452. Here is a link the to the Spec article.
Thank you all for your continuing support. After all, it's our customers who made our famous slab pizza famous!

CBC Hamilton Event featuring Roma Pizza
In Memoriam: Augustino (Gus) Restivo
We lost one of our own today. Beloved by so many Gus passed away peacefully 3:30 a.m. with his son Marc and family by his side.
Gus was known throughout this city greeting everyone with kindness and good humour. He helped countless with whatever they needed. Be it a friendly smile, a few dollars but mostly with his boundless encouragement and enthusiasm. His job delivering at Roma Bakery allowed him to be out amongst the people where he was most at home. Everyone here is stricken at his passing and he has left a hole in our hearts never to be filled.
Unfortunately the passing of good people hurts more. If a great man can be humble this was such a man. He tutored so many young kids who got their first jobs at Roma and have gone on to much success and stop by once in a while to say hello and ask after their favourite Uncle Gus.
We ask that you not forget him and pass on the goodness that he believed was the simple answer to a complicated world. He was a man of action and a man of deeds and I will miss his counsel because he was also my Uncle and my most trusted friend.

Roma Pizza pays a visit to The Great Wall of China
Whenever our friend Romeo Palombella travels he takes Roma Pizza with him. “When I get to my hotel room after a long flight it really hits the spot” he says. “And I don’t have to wait in line or order room service”. Well Romeo we are happy to oblige. Maybe next time one of us will come along. Happy Trails!

Roma Bakery has made the news again, now as the top "classic bite" on Tourism Hamilton's website. With a 65 year history, and a pizza taste so classic it's postivley "Roman," it makes perfect sense. Check it out.
