IN MEMORIAM: AUGUSTINO (GUS) RESTIVO

We lost one of our own today.

Beloved by so many Gus passed away peacefully at 3:30 a.m. with his son Marc and family by his side.

Gus was known throughout this city greeting everyone with kindness and good humour. He helped countless with whatever they needed. Be it a friendly smile, a few dollars but mostly with his boundless encouragement and enthusiasm. His job delivering at Roma Bakery allowed him to be out amongst the people where he was most at home. Everyone here is stricken at his passing and he has left a hole in our hearts never to be filled.

Unfortunately, the passing of good people hurts more. If a great man can be humble this was such a man. He tutored so many young kids who got their first jobs at Roma and have gone on to much success and stopped by once in a while to say hello and ask after their favourite Uncle Gus.

We ask that you not forget him and pass on the goodness that he believed was the simple answer to a complicated world. He was a man of action and a man of deeds and I will miss his counsel because he was also my Uncle and my most trusted friend.
